It was because he did not want to be distracted by domestic politics that he had opted not to stand in Thailand's elections. "I want to be totally immersed in this work," he says.


He admits that all is not well on the world trade scene and expresses his concern about "all these mobs at international meetings, against globalization and against all sorts of things international, I see it back in my own country in reaction to the crisis.
