How to blow your severance pay paypackage

Is all that talk of looming recession and job losses getting you down? Sick of being told to look for bargains? Was last month's recommendation of Smith and Wollensky's Nasdaq special lunch just too depressing? Then perhaps the millionaire's margarita is for you. Yes, in a determined effort to appeal to the would-be obnoxiously wealthy in us all, Grand Marnier is trying to promote the millionaire's margarita as the drink to have to celebrate a deal or just simply spend your severance package.

So no more of the cheap stuff, throw out the Triple Sec, and treat yourself and your soon-to-be-downsized team to a shot of utter decadence. The millionaire's margarita is made using either the 100th or 150th anniversary special Grand Marnier, made with 25- or 50-year-old cognac.

The damage? It could easily cost you $40 a drink.

In the interests of research, Euromoney took a quick tour around a couple of Manhattan's more expensive nightspots. Obviously the doom and gloom is just too much. "Well, we did have the special bottles," says a waitress at the W Hotel bar in midtown. "But no one was drinking it, so we sent it back."
