In what department do Commerzbank, Bayerische Landesbank and DG Bank utterly outclass their bigger rivals Deutsche and Dresdner, not to mention the ailing Allianz? The answer is their websites.

According to a poll by Germany's manager-magazin (carried out by WebConsult of Stuttgart) Commerzbank has the seventh-best corporate website in Germany, scoring outstanding marks for "homogeneity" although falling down a little on "transparency".

Balaba was 10th and DG Bank 13th. Deutsche Bank (73) falls down badly on "interactiveness" and being "medium-specific". Dresdner is a slightly better 52 although it's weaker than Deutsche on "homogeneity".

Even Deutsche does better than Allianz (93 out of 100) which scores badly on "presentation", "sureness of navigation", "interactiveness", and "medium-specificity". The overall winner was medical-care firm Fresenius. DS
