Bank of America Merrill Lynch veteran trader departs for ANZ

A veteran spot trader from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) has left the firm and is believed to have been hired by ANZ in London, according to people familiar with the situation.

Mike Leighton, who began his trading career with Goldman Sachs in 1990, departed from the bank this week, the sources say. He was a senior trader across G10 currencies. BAML and ANZ could not be immediately contacted for comment. Leighton left Goldman in 1995 to join Credit Suisse, where he spent the next 13 years before joining Merrill Lynch in 2008.
