RBS Group creates new role: head of prime broking mandate sales for Asia-Pacific

RBS has strengthened its market position in prime brokerage services in Asia-Pacific with the hiring of a head of mandate sales.

William Egan, a six-year veteran of Barclays Capital, joined RBS in a role newly created for him.

Egan’s position will see him originate and deliver RBS’s prime brokerage services platform to clients in Asia-Pacific, focusing on earning long-term prime broking mandates in FX, interest rates, flow credit and futures and options by providing full front-to-back trade execution, clearing, settlement and reporting services.

The role will see him report to David Gray in Hong Kong – who is head of prime services and client execution – and Fred Matt, global head of prime services sales in London.

At BarCap, Egan worked as part of the prime services team in New York and then as Barclay’s head of FX prime brokerage and over-the-counter clearing in Singapore.

Egan also previously worked in New York for Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers.
