EBS hires new director of liquidity management

EBS, Icap’s electronic FX trading platform, has hired Ben Tobin to work as director of liquidity management.

Tobin, who is based in London and reports to EBS CEO Gil Mandelzis, is responsible for developing new initiatives that will increase liquidity on the platform, as well as assisting with the development of products and sales, and marketing team initiatives. Tobin comes to EBS from the ranks of Traiana, the Icap-owned post-trade services business, following in Mandelzis’ footsteps after the EBS CEO moved over from Traiana in March.

“I am thrilled Ben is joining EBS,” says Mandelzis. “He brings with him proven leadership and drive, and will play a key role in further enhancing our partnership with market participants to improve EBS’s overall liquidity.”

Tobin started at Traiana in December 2003 where he worked most recently as the EMEA sales director focusing on growing the company’s business with banks and brokerage houses.

Before his time at Traiana, Tobin built up an extensive career in sales, spending the first nine years of his career as a sales executive at Dow Jones Telerate.

Other recent hires at EBS since Mandelzis became CEO include Eisso van der Meulen, a former prime brokerage chief who joined the Icap company’s product development team in September, and Jason Cohen, who was appointed global chief operating officer in May.
