Gardner is the second high profile departure from BarCap’s spot desk in recent months, after Danny Wise, head of European spot trading, left the firm in May. Wise, who was initially set to join HSBC as a yen trader, was hired by Credit Suisse last month as global head of spot trading based in London.
Barclays Capital declined to comment on the departure. Gardner couldn’t be contacted for comment.
