ANZ hires Qin as FX sales chief for China

Yan Qin has been nabbed from Credit Suisse to take a senior FX role covering China at ANZ.

He joined the Australian bank on June 7 as head of FX investor sales for China, an ANZ spokeswoman confirms.

He reports to Thomas Mummert, ANZ’s global head of FX investor sales, who is based in Singapore, and Richard Huston, regional head of global markets for Asia Pacific, Europe and America, who is based in Hong Kong.

Credit Suisse hired Qin last year as an FX sales director, also based in Hong Kong.

According to a June 2010 Credit Suisse press release, Qin was responsible for building up the "client franchise among Chinese financial institutions and sovereign wealth funds". He was previously with JPMorgan in London covering central bank sales.

This is the second significant hire by ANZ in recent weeks – in May the bank hired Richard Yetsenga to head its global foreign-exchange strategy research team, based in Sydney.
