FX news: Volumes - Icap ahead; CLS has more sides

Icap announced Wednesday that average daily volumes on its spot FX electronic platform EBS were $154.2 billion in April, a year-on-year increase of 27%.


On April 28, EBS also recorded the highest individual trading day since October 2008, with $270 billion traded. Icap reports all of its electronic broking volumes on a single-count basis.


CLS average daily volumes settled in April were up, 727,956 sides against 722,874 in March, although average daily values were slightly lower, at $3.99 trillion (against $4.15 trillion in March).


In line with the record trading day on EBS, on April 30 CLS settled 1,135,266 instructions, the “highest volume recorded for a standard day (a non-peak day following a USD holiday or quarterly fund settlement day)”.
