Banco Occidente
Banco Occidente, with total assets of $410 million, loans of $194 million and deposits of $219 million, is the largest and most efficient bank in Guatemala. It is also the only Guatemalan commercial bank to receive a long-term credit facility from the Inter-American Investment Corporation, and in May 2000 it became the first and only Guatemalan bank to receive an international rating. Its return on equity, at 17.11%, is significantly higher than the Guatemalan average of 14.22%.
It also achieved a 1.97% return on assets, and has the lowest proportion of past-due loans in the country.
