Abigail qualified as a barrister before going to work as a graduate trainee at Merrill Lynch, London in the mid-1980s. She spent the next 18 years as an investment banker specialising in bond origination and worked for a variety of firms. In her last role she was a Managing Director at Barclays Capital responsible for Debt Capital Markets.
Abigail retired from the City in 2001 and went to study at La Sorbonne in Paris for a year. When she returned to London, she found doing nothing unutterably boring and thus started working as a freelance journalist. Abigail has written for many different publications including the Financial Times, the Times, the Sunday Times, the Sunday Telegraph and Vogue. She joined Euromoney as a columnist in March 2006.
