Goldman keeps quiet on new FX head
Goldman Sachs has yet to confirm who is replacing Bobby McTamaney, its co-head of global FX and emerging market trading, who is relocating from London to Tokyo to take on a new role as co-head of the bank’s pan-Asian securities business.
Sources say that Ashok Varadhan, currently Goldman’s head of US interest rate products, will assume responsibility for G10 currencies. Greg Tebbe, who most consider McTamaney’s co-head of FX but Goldman will only confirm is a managing director, will run emerging markets.
AXA Investment Managers strengthens FX team
AXA Investment Managers has appointed Lucio Sarno as director of currency research to expand its recently formed currency management team within its fixed-income business.
Sarno, who was previously professor of finance at Warwick University and associate dean of research of Warwick Business School, will report to Andrew Dales, AXA IM’s head of currency management. He will join the company in March 2007.
AXA IM established its currency management team in June 2006, with the appointments of Andrew Dales and Jean-Philippe Gruvel from Barclays Global Investors.
Nick Parsons leaves Commerzbank
The high-profile Nick Parsons has left his role as head of macro research at Commerzbank, where he worked for around seven years.
