Farhan Faruqui leaves Citi to join ANZ

Farhan Faruqui leaves Citigroup to join ANZ as head of international business.

Euromoney understands that Farhan Faruqui has left Citi to take up the position as head of international business at ANZ in Hong Kong.

Faruqui has led Citi’s corporate and investment banking sector for Asia Pacific since 2009. Before this, Faruqui oversaw the realignment of Citi’s corporate bank and the creation of the new regional commercial bank as the head of the corporate and commercial bank in Apac.

He has also served as Citi's corporate, commercial and investment banking head for the Czech Republic and emerging-market corporate banking head for central Europe. Faruqui joined Citi in 1991 in Pakistan. In a memo seen by Euromoney, Raymond J McGuire, global head of corporate and investment banking at Citi, says: “Farhan has been considering this change for some time. He feels the time is right for him to move on to the next stage of his career.

“We remain grateful to Farhan for his many contributions over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

The new CIB leadership at Citi is due to be announced within the next few weeks.
