Cash management strategy debate: Cash management in a world of risk and complexity

Malcolm Cooper (MC) is group tax and treasury director for FTSE 100 company National Grid, which operates in the UK and the US. The group’s tax charge last year was £750 million and among the treasury’s responsibilities is management of its £25 billion debt portfolio.
Michael Mueller (MM) is head of international cash management origination at Barclays. Before joining Barclays he worked for Deutsche Bank, where he was responsible for the NBFI and wholesale solutions business in the global transaction bank.
Majella O’Boyle (MO’B) is head of transaction services origination, UK & Ireland, at RBS, serving international banking corporate clients. She has over 15 years of corporate banking experience and was appointed to her current position in 2008.
John Salter (JS) is head of cash management and payments at Lloyds Bank. He has over 20 years of experience working with banks such as RBS and Deutsche Bank. Before his current position he was head of trade, payments and card products for Lloyds.
Mike Verrier (MV) is group treasurer at FTSE 100 engineering firm Wolseley, which operates across Europe and in the US. He has worked in the treasury field since 1981, when he started as the Dunlop Group’s foreign exchange manager.
