Brazil private banking debate: Private bankers cushion the blows in Brazil


Marco Abrahão (MA) has been head of Credit Suisse Hedging-Griffo Private Banking since 2009 and is a director on the board of Credit Suisse Brazil and Credit Suisse Hedging-Griffo. He joined Hedging-Griffo in 1995 and became a partner in 1999.

Luiz Severiano Ribeiro91

Luiz Severiano Ribeiro (LR) is commercial director of Itaú Private Bank, responsible for Brazilian clients. His career in finance began in 1998, at Unibanco Private Bank, before moving to Banco Fator and then Itaú Corretora. He joined Itaú Private Bank in 2003 as a relationship manager, becoming commercial director in 2011.

Sylvio Castro (SC) joined Credit Suisse Hedging-Griffo Private Banking in 2013 as CIO and PM for all exclusive mandates. He has been in the investment management industry since 1997, first at ABN Amro and later at Goldman Sachs.

João Albino Winkelmann (JW) is head director of Bradesco Private Bank and also head of the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association’s (Anbima) Private Banking Committee. He set up Bradesco’s Grand Cayman operations and became general manager of the New York branch, returning to São Paulo in 2002 to run international business.

Paulo Meirelles (PM) joined Itaú Unibanco in 2002 as private bank sales director. In 2013 he became responsible for Itaú Private Bank’s investment, wealth planning and credit. He started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in São Paulo in 1983 as loan officer for corporate clients. He moved into private banking in 1994 with Delta National Bank of New York and then Banco Bozano, Simonsen/Banco Santander.
