Hong Kong, Swiss currency managers join Morgan Stanley FX platform

FX Gateway, Morgan Stanley’s FX platform for institutional investors seeking access to the market, added two new currency manager counterparties: Hong Kong-based Ortus Capital Management and Switzerland’s Quaesta Capital.

The inclusion of Ortus and Quaesta on the FX Gateway electronic platform brings the total number of currency managers available to institutional investors seeking access to currency markets to 12 since the facility’s launch in September 2011. The other currency managers available on FX Gateway are: AllianceBernstein, Cambridge Strategy Ltd, C-View Ltd, FDO Partners, LLC, GAM International Management, Harmonic Capital Partners LLP, Oppenheim Capital Management, P/E Global LLC, QFS Asset Management LP, and Rhicon Currency Management.

Morgan Stanley acts as the FX prime broker and distributor for FX Gateway.

Ortus Capital Management, run by systemic manager Joe Zhou, has $3 billion in assets under management and will offer weekly liquidity to investors seeking to finance their assets on an unfunded basis, Morgan Stanley said.

Quaesta Capital will use FX Gateway to present the first volatility-focused strategy available on the platform, the bank said.

“Institutional clients are increasingly attracted to the FX market and the platform brings together Morgan Stanley’s expertise in the FX business and our distribution capabilities,” Morgan Stanley executive director and FX Gateway head James Rogers says.
