Brazil private banking debate: Participants

João Albino Winkelmann (JAW) is the head director of Bradesco Private Bank. He has 30 years’ banking experience and has run the private bank since 2005. He set up Bradesco’s Grand Cayman operations in 1992 and in 1998 became general manager of Bradesco’s New York branch.
Marcos Moura Mertens (MMM) has 17 years’ experience of the financial markets and has worked at Bradesco since 2003. He is executive superintendent of Bradesco Private Bank and has worked in the bank’s investments, treasury products and capital markets departments.
Rogerio Pessoa (RP) is a managing partner of BTG Pactual and a member of the Brazil management committee. He joined Pactual in 1998 and became a partner in charge of private banking in 2001. Since October 2009 he has been co-head of wealth management at BTG Pactual.
Renato Cohn (RC) is a managing partner of BTG Pactual and a member of the Brazil management committee. He is co-head of wealth management. He previously worked at Banco Matrix, joining Pactual in 1999.
Celso Viegas Portásio (CP) is head of Brazil at JPMorgan Private Bank and a Banco JPMorgan SA director. He is a director of Anbima and president of its private bank committee. He has 30 years’ financial services experience. He joined JPMorgan in 2004.
Bernardo Assumpsao (BA) is the head of the investment desk at JPMorgan Private Bank. He leads the nondiscretionary business for the Brazil onshore market and has 18 years’ experience in capital markets, fixed income and equities. He joined JPMorgan in January 2010.
Christiano Ehlers (CE) is the head of products and advisory at Santander Private Banking. He has 14 years’ banking experience, having previously worked at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management and ABN Amro Private Banking in the US and Banco Real Private Banking in Brazil.
Vitor Ohtsuki (VO) is the head of planning, sales management and marketing at Santander Private Banking. He has 12 years’ financial industry experience, having worked at Citibank before joining Santander in 2004.
Luiz Severiano Ribeiro (LR) joined Itaú in 2002 and is a commercial director at Itaú Private Bank, responsible for managing the ultra-high-net-worth team. Before joining Itaú, he worked at Unibanco Private Bank and, later, Banco Fator and Itaú Corretora.
Flávio Souza (FS) is a managing director of Itaú Unibanco and is responsible for advisory, wealth planning, client acquisition and strategic planning. He was previously president and CEO of Banco Itaú Europa International in Miami and head of private banking for Hispanic markets.
