Methodology Euromoney s fifth annual emerging Europe company ranking is based on a survey of market analysts at leading banks and research institutes in the region. We received replies from 101 institutions and analysts. Respondents were asked to nominate the top-three companies in each of the countries or sectors they covered, bearing in mind market strength, profitability, growth potential and quality of management and earnings. Points were awarded on the scale of 4:3:2 for nominations for first, second and third places respectively. Companies results are expressed as a percentage of total points received in each category, together with the number of companies that received points in each category. A number of other countries and industry sectors were included in the survey but did not receive enough responses to be published. ANALYSTS OUGHT TO dislike Garanti. Its a bank at a time when the financial system is in crisis. Its in a region struggling to come to terms with the credit crunch. And it is based in a country, Turkey, that is hampered by a great deal of political uncertainty.
