"The Best Way to Reshape Financial Markets after the Crash of 2008"


To mark its 40th Anniversary, Euromoney announces a new programme of international financial publishing scholarships:




In 1969, Patrick Sergeant, the pre-eminent London financial journalist of his time, launched a tiny monthly journal called Euromoney to cover the re-emergence of the international cross-border capital markets. It had a tiny capital base, very few staff, and the first issue had just 36 pages. The international markets grew, so did the magazine. 

Euromoney has become the leading magazine in the world of international finance. It is the flagship magazine of an eponymous London Stock exchange listed company, employing more than 2,000 people worldwide. And Patrick – now Sir Patrick Sergeant – still serves as honorary co-president of the company. 

Euromoney proposes to award a number of Euromoney Sergeant Scholarships to mark its 40th Anniversary year. Each scholar will work in the Euromoney headquarters in London for two months. Accommodation, a stipend for living expenses and return airfares will be provided for the successful applicants. They will be trained by senior staff and be given real work to do – writing articles, researching data or performing marketing work – depending on the ambitions of the scholar. Those scholars who particularly shine may also receive permanent job offers.

It is hoped that the scholars will come from all parts of the world, especially from emerging market countries, where Euromoney has been building relationships throughout its history. Scholars will be graduates between the ages of 22 and 25.

Those wishing to apply should submit a one-page CV, along with an essay of no more than 1,000 words on "The Best Way to Reshape Financial Markets after the Crash of 2008."
