PIMCO Enters ETF Arena
PIMCO has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to launch its first exchange-traded fund by years end. The PIMCO 1-3 Year U.S. Treasury Index Fund will track the Merrill Lynch 1-3 Year U.S. Treasury Index.
Don Suskind, product manager of ETFs, would not comment on the funds expenses because it is in filing, but said that pricing will be competitive with industry standards. The filing did not list expenses. We plan to be launching a robust ETF platform in the future which will include multi-asset classes, fixed-income and potentially actively-managed ETFs, said Suskind. He also said that PIMCOs first full lineup of ETFs would be passively-, not actively-, managed.
In July, PIMCO applied for exemptive relief to offer actively-managed ETFs, but it has yet to receive SEC approval.
