Prime brokerage debate: How to profit by keeping hedge funds happy


Iain Cullen (IC – co-chair) is a partner in the Financial Services Group of international law firm of Simmons & Simmons. His practice has concentrated on structuring hedge funds and advising hedge fund managers since 1993. He has served as general counsel of the Alternative Investment Management Association since its foundation in 1990 and is the co-editor of Hedge Funds: Law and Regulation (Sweet & Maxwell, 2001).

Antony Bryceson (AB – co-chair) is a partner at Simmons & Simmons. He heads a team of lawyers that specializes in advising participants in the derivatives and securities markets on prime brokerage, securities lending, and repurchase and OTC derivatives trading agreements, predominantly acting for asset managers, in particular, hedge funds.

Laurie Pinto (LP) has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry; until recently for five years as chairman of Pali International, which he built into a leading agency brokerage specializing in alternative investments, and a hedge fund run from London with offices in Edinburgh and Singapore.

Thomas Colucci (TC) is global head of sales for Fortis Prime Brokerage.
