Power utility SSE launches construction of power plant. Regional power distributor Stredoslovenska Energetika started preparation activities for the construction of a new gas-powered electricity plant, the company spokeswoman Anna Zatkova informed. She explained that the plant, to be based in Lucenec in southern Slovakia , would have two blocks with installed capacity of 45MW each. Investment costs for the project were estimated at above SKK 1bn. Construction of the plant was scheduled to be completed by 2010. SSE supplies 690,000 electricity consumers and operates in the central Slovak region. It is controlled by the minority 49% shareholder Electricite de France while the state holds the remaining 51% through the privatisation agency FNM.
