Non-performing loans ratio of universal and commercial banks decreases to 4.54% in March. According to figures of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the non-performing loans (NPL) ratio of universal and commercial banks (U/KBs) decreased to 4.54% in Mar 2008 from 4.68% in Feb 2008 and 5.28% in Mar 2008. During the month, NPLs declined by 0.93% m/m, while the total loan portfolio (TLP) increased by 2.05% m/m. Net of inter-bank loans, the NPL ratio came in at 5.25% in Mar 2008 compared to 5.56% in Feb 2008 and 6.58% in Mar 2007.
