Russia's gas company Gazprom opens office in Algeria.





Russia's gas company Gazprom opens office in Algeria. Russia's OAO Gazprom opened its first African office in Algeria for cooperation with Algerian oil company Sonatrach in developing fields in the country, the Russian company said in a statement. Gazprom's deputy CEO, Alexander Medvedev, said that the company gave its new office in Algeria a regional representation status and there will also be the potential for joint projects in Libya . The two companies compete in the European market, as Gazprom is the largest supplier with about a 25% share, while Sonatrach supplies about 10% of Europe 's gas consumption.
