China's utilisation of foreign direct investment increases 59.32% y/y in first four months. According to news agency Xinhua , figures of the Ministry of Commerce show that China's utilisation of foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 59.32% y/y to USD 35.02bn in the first four months of the year. FDI utilisation increased by 109.78% y/y in January and by about 61.26% y/y in Q1/2008. However, the number of new foreign-invested enterprises declined by 23.15% y/y to 9,490 in the four month period. National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Hanya stated recently that while China 's new policies on foreign investment might have discouraged the establishment of small-scale foreign-funded companies, large companies appeared to have increased their investment in China in recent months.
