Telecom Egypt, partners to build USD 700mn undersea cable linking UK to India. Telecom Egypt announced it had signed an agreement with 15 other telecom companies to build a high bandwidth undersea cable linking UK to India . The cost of the project, called Europe India Gateway, is estimated at USD 700mn. In addition, Telecom Egypt said it had signed a USD 50mn deal with EIG on the construction of its TE Transit Corridor. The system is to be launched in Q2 of 2010 and will connect 13 countries on three continents.
