Non-performing loans ratio of Chinese commercial banks declines to record low in 2007. According to news agency Xinhua , figures of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) show that the non-performing loans (NPL) ratio of Chinese commercial banks declined by 0.93pps y/y to a record low of 6.2% in 2007. The total assets of the banking sector increased by 19.7% y/y to CNY 52.6tn. Outstanding deposits increased to CNY 40.1tn, a y/y increase of 15.2% and a growth rate slower by 0.74pps than in 2006. Outstanding loans increased by 16.4% y/y to CNY 27.8tn during the year. The total net income of the banking industry amounted to CNY 446.7bn in 2007.
