BNP Paribas seeing green

BNP Paribas is presenting MillionTreesNYC in New York, a citywide, public-private scheme with the goal of planting and caring for a million trees across New York’s five boroughs over the next 10 years. Introduced as one of mayor Michael Bloomberg’s 127 PlaNYC initiatives to create a healthier, sustainable city, MillionTreesNYC will increase the city’s tree-count by 20%.

Always quick to recognize a good PR opportunity, BNP Paribas is throwing its support behind the project, which will include the BNP Paribas Greenhouse in Union Square. The greenhouse will generate and accept donations from New Yorkers and be staffed by BNP Paribas employee volunteers.

The French bank is also involved in several other environmental programs such as Global Compact (in partnership with the United Nations) and the Carbon Disclosure Project, giving a little weight at least to its claim of being "the bank for a changing world".
