Banking climate indicator Pengab rises by 4.4pts m/m to 42.1pts in April. The banking climate indicator Pengab increased by 4.4pts m/m to 42.1pts in April, according to the publication Monitor Bankowy of the market and research institute Pentor. Compared with April 2007, the index is up by 1pts. The aggregate Pengab evaluating indicator was up by 5.4pts m/m to 36.4pts, whereas the forecast indicator rose by 3.4pts m/m to 47.7pts. Pengab’s increase was accompanied by a rise of the general climate indicator, measuring the economic situation of bank branches - by 7.2pts m/m to 52.2pts, Pentor also said. The survey was carried out on Apr 7-14. Representatives of all types of the country's banks took part in a telephone survey, which included 204 bank branches. As for individual segments’ forecasts, bankers are positive about future developments in PLN and foreign currency current deposit markets and foreign currency term deposits plus foreign currency loans as well as equity investments, investment funds and life insurance policy markets, while worse prospects are still prevailing in the case of PLN-denominated consumer and mortgage lending and bond markets.
