China's March consumer price index seen at 8.3%.





China's March consumer price index seen at 8.3%. According to the People's Dail y Online , People's Bank of China (PBOC) Deputy Governor Liu Shiyu stated in Shanghai recently that the consumer price index (CPI) for March was likely to come in at 8.3%, while the CPI for Q1/2008 was likely to come in at around 8%. The CPI had touched an eleven-year high of 8.7% in February. Shiyu said that the slight decline in the inflation rate in March was the result of seasonal factors. The official figures are to be released on Thursday.
