New execution head for Sumitomo in Hong Kong

Kota Murakami is taking over from Shinji Horibe as the group head for execution of the investment management team at The Sumitomo Trust Finance’s Hong Kong office. Horibe moved back to Tokyo at the end of March to take up a new assignment at the firm as a part of its in-house job rotation process.

Murakami is relocating from Tokyo, where he was handling overseas clients for Sumitomo’s Japan long/short and long only funds.

The investment management group in Hong Kong mainly handles execution for Sumitomo’s $90 million Japan long/short fund. This fund has three components, with two being fundamentally driven and one being a quantitative strategy.
