Country to follow EU decision in respect to declaration of Kosovo independence. President Stjepan Mesic, PM Ivo Sanader and parliament speaker Luka Bebic held a meeting to discuss the declaration of independence of Kosovo and agreed that the country would follow the EU decision. The government announced in a statement that the country would continue to monitor the development of the issue, but would be led by its interests. The country is in the process of accession to the EU and would like to harmonise its decision on foreign policy with the policy decision of the EU. We note that EU foreign ministers agreed that the member states would separately decide on their position. Several EU members have already recognised Kosovo independence. United States have also done that.
