Hong Kong's composite interest rate decreases to 1.68%.

Hong Kong's composite interest rate decreases to 1.68%. According to the Monetary Authority, Hong Kong 's composite interest rate decreased by 61bps m/m to 1.68% in January. The decrease in the composite interest rate is the result of an all-round decline in domestic interest rates including rates for savings, time deposits and inter-bank transactions. According to Monetary Authority Deputy Chief Executive Peter Pang, the composite interest-rate will continue to be influenced by short-term changes in liquidity conditions and by changes in US interest rates. The composite interest-rate will also be influenced by new IPOs.
