Christmas is a time for giving and receiving but here at Euromoney we like to focus on the latter. The festive season brought a cluster of gifts from various financial institutions keen to remind us that they’re still afloat enough to be able to splash out on a thoughtful present or two for their favourite hacks.
The tunes were provided by Colonial First State Global Asset Management, with a rather odd and eclectic CD featuring the unlikely bedfellows that are Jefferson Airplane, John Denver, the Carpenters and Bob Marley.
Société Générale displayed a more cerebral touch with a collection of classical choral music of the type that plays over the aftermath scenes in disaster movies, a fitting gift for journalists who have spent the last several months reporting on a credit crisis that could rival any alien attack or gangland shootout.
