Qatari fertilizer QAFCO selects Korean-Italian consortium for USD 3.2bn project. The Qatari fertilizers producer QAFCO selected a consortium led by the Korean Hyundai and the Italian Snamprogetti to execute its new USD 3.2bn fertilizer project QAFCO-5, the company announced. The project will include two plants for the production of ammonia with a total capacity of 4,600 ton/d, in addition to a plant that produces 3,800 ton/d of urea. The construction of the plants will take about 38 months and expected to be operational by early 2011. The project will be financed by USD 1.6bn syndicated loan in addition to USD 1.6bn self generated funds by QAFCO.
